Our Story
When it comes to dairy goats, be forewarned. It's a slippery slope...
It all started so innocently; our oldest daughter wanted a goat. We broke down and agreed to "a" goat, but instantly "a" goat became "two" goats (she needed a friend). Those two goats, Abby Lou and Emmy Sue, started Lil Mac D Dairy Goats which has produced hundreds of multi-generational offspring.
As the number of goats grew so did our goat milk creations. The Wild West Soap Shop was born in 2010. Proceeds from this venture paved the way for the pasteurizer purchase which enabled us to sell yogurt, cheese, cajeta and other goodies made from goat milk, creating The Cowgirl Whey. Finally, a law passed in 2021 enabled raw milk sales off the farm, as long as it is still purchased directly from the farm. This created a realistic opportunity to sell and deliver raw goat milk and yogurt, and with that, Lomah Texas came to be. To simplify, we merged everything here, under Lomah Texas. The girls have grown up so its mostly the mom running the ranch these days. The days are long and filled with soap making, cheese hanging, goat milking, and barn cleaning. Day by day, we are taming our piece of the wild west and enjoying a different way of life. Still living happily ever after, hopefully no where near the end. :) |
