A lone dandelion braved the back pasture and defiantly stood among grass, leaves, and other weeds. The mighty dandelion withstood freezing temperatures and pecan fruits and shells raining down around it. It proudly stood in the waning sunshine of the evening. Looks great! Thanks Lisa B, Tim, and the crew at oldwestcedarmill.com They will be at the fat stock show in Fort Worth and in Houston this year. Cambrie was preparing the chimney path for Santa. As you might expect, her analytical mind kicked in with many questions. Elf is one of our favorite holiday movies! We had 3 goats kid on Christmas Eve. Jenn and Mackenzie worked all nite in the barn. Mackenzie did most of the work delivering the babies. We had 3 goats kid on Christmas Eve. Jenn and Mackenzie worked all nite in the barn. Mackenzie did most of the work delivering the babies. Daddy has been playing Christmas songs in the house and singing along with the traditional favorites. Cambrie listened to "Baby It's Cold Outside" and picked up on the guy trying to put the moves on the female in the song. Well Cambrie heard enough of his pleading and carrying on. She looked up and said, "he just needs to leave her alone. He can see her tomorrow." Daddy took Mackenzie to town for an orthodontist visit, grocery store, and, some hay. She only has a few more baby teeth left.t
Cambrie dropped some glass on her foot and we made a trip to Cook's. The nurses in the ER patched her up nicely, but it was a long evening! Mystical fog looms low over the back forty at JD Ranch. Reminds me of many a Florida morning in the lowland swamps. Beautiful, humid, thick fog hangs in the mist. Also reminds me of a great Led Zeppelin song: Misty Mountain Hop. Cambrie visited with Santa in Aledo, TX. She told me, "Daddy, I know he's not the real Santa! I am going to pull his beard." She chickened out. Santa asked about her missing tooth and Cambrie said a doll was on her wish list. On a road trip, I passed through Loving, TX. It didn't hit me until I passed the Loving Ranch front gate. This ranch was founded in 1870 by the son of Oliver Loving of Goodnight:Loving fame. These were the guys Larry McMurty wrote Lonsome Dove about. Jeff took a picture of the Dallas skyline on a bridge just west of the city. Beautiful skyline and lights. Cambrie went for his beard. She was going to call him out as a faker, but she chickened out! Santa said he would bring her a tooth! She asked for a doll - I expected her to ask for a skateboard. Had the opportunity to photograph the old Greenwood church originally built in 1898. These pictures were taken at dusk. We attended the theater production of "It's a Wonderful Life" at the Granbury Opera House with our friends. Had a great time at Babes Chicken before the show. The production was well adapted and the entire town square was covered in Christmas lights and decorations. |
