A few days before their scheduled departure from the farm, the pigs got lose. They made their way through the fences and into the milker pen. We found them chasing our beloved goats and jumped in quickly. Nearly two hours later, they were inside the trailer. That was quite the challenge. We will be rethinking things for the next group of pigs that come to the ranch. Nose rings and pens away from the goats are a must. Hot wire and stick training are probably needed. A week of eating dinner in the trailer- for sure! Jeff took the pigs to the butcher today. It is always sad- but having Jeff take them made it a lot more bearable. Having them act like crazy pigs- that helped ease the trip too. Still, the process isn't easy- but knowing my fam will not be eating hormone and antibiotic "enriched" pork- from pigs raised in terrible confined conditions... if you are going to eat pork then this is the most humane and nutritious/ healthiest way to do so.

Jeff and Mackenzie went to the golf course today after church. She just completed golf lessons for the fall... Here is a picture of Jeff's dad and Dave Ramsey- they look so much alike!
The other day Mackenzie asked me if her sister would ever stop being mean. I told her probably not. She apparently *reflected* on my answer, because she came up with a plan today. She told me we should buy Cambrie a special bracelet (and make it really pretty so she would like and wear it) that would squeeze Cambrie's arm every time she was mean.
We are in our second week of swim lessons. Both girls are having fun. Mackenzie is learning strokes while Cambrie is really just playing. The program for the little kids isn't really teaching swimming. ISR is probably in our future. Jeff fixed my external hard drive (wu-hu). Now have have access to all my pictures. It is amazing how fast they change. Here is a trip down memory lane... There are piles of stuff waiting to find a "home" and I can't find my favorite clothes. BUT we took time yesterday to enjoy the ranch. Here are a few pictures Jeff took...
Arr...what is all the buzz about? Jeff volunteered to help out with Mackenzie 's play. Little did he know that would lead to renting a costume, learning lines, and rehearsals. He is a good sport though and seems to be enjoying it. As long as he doesn't quit his day job, it is all good. :) And as far as the buzzing.... Jeff's bees arrived in the mail on Friday morning. Putting them in the hive has been challenging (or at least that is how it looks from the inside of the truck...watching him handle everything). There were around 10,000. I think we need an epipen for Christmas... and you should already know I didn't take these pictures. Eek! Moving on... The garden has really taken off. The tomatoes are growing up the teepees. The potatoes are flowering. The only thing growing faster than the veggies is the grass! No where else on either property has the grass taken off like this. It is over 3 ft. tall! Jeff has started calling the garden the sod farm. No wonder I feel overwhelmed.
God Bless! Tonight Mackenzie made her acting debut in Weatherford. She did a great job! Cambrie enjoyed the show too. Every time the dancers would do a move on the floor Cambrie would yell, "Fall down! Fall down!". Then we would have to have a short dialogue on them falling and crying. We had the same conversation about 10 times. She was sure they were falling down and crying.
Here are a few pictures of the evening... 2 years ago at 10:13ish we were blessed with Cambrie.
We celebrated her birthday with pink cake and ice-cream. She enjoyed opening her presents- and played with each one a bit before moving on to the next. We will have to try to video her singing, "Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me". Very cute! She won't say she is two, although she can. Starting early on preferring to be younger. Oh it goes by so fast. I look at these pictures and she looks so big. Here are pictures from the celebration... Jeff's V-day card: Chicken coop in progress Hanging on every word... Getting ready for bees... Mackenzie took these- Crinkle nose smile! :) God Bless!
Aahhh... Summer :) This just might be the best summer of my life. Every night when the sun starts to go down and things start to cool off, we go outside. Even Cambrie gets excited and finds her shoes so she can get down outside. The girls play on the swing set, the dogs run around, and Jeff and I do chores. We stay outside til it is dark (after 9:00) then come in and get ready for bed. I love it out here! Here are a few pictures from this evening- (below) This is what we refer to as "the crinkle-nose smile". She does it when she is really happy. Jeff went out in our little arena where the sunflowers have taken over. He got some great shots! Yes, I am a bit jealous of his photography skills. I've got more of the dogs but I'll save em for another time. I am STILL working on the Branson slideshow. It actually overheated my pc last night. I've switched programs and am still having problems. Also, Granny don't let me forget about your picture.
HAPPY HAPPY BDAY Grandpa Daniels and Uncle Randy. Hope you both have a wonderful day. GOD BLESS |
